AMARYLIS 4095 is a table lamp whose shade is the entire glass body, shaped like a vase. The glass is matt white opal; the body stands 34 cm tall and measures 27 cm across at its widest. The bulb screws into a lampholder hidden in the neck, so the light source sits inside the body. How much space it takes on a surface The lamp rests on a round foot 14 cm across — that is its footprint. Higher up the body widens to 27 cm, and that is the figure to compare with the depth of your bedside table or shelf. Net weight is 2.5 kg, carried low in the widest part of the glass. The neck stays open, with an aperture 10 cm in diameter. Which bulb you need to buy The fitting takes one E27 source rated up to 15 W, and no bulb is included. On the installation card the incandescent lamp is crossed out and LED is ticked, so the 15 W ceiling applies to LED sources only. The card also gives the largest permitted envelope: 50 mm across, 105 mm long. A standard A60 pear is 60 mm wide and will not go in — G45 golf-ball lamps, candle lamps and slim tubes will. Check that before buying a bulb: no specification table states it. You choose the light colour with the bulb: 2700-3000 K gives warm, slightly yellow light. The pictogram on the card allows dimming, but that needs a dimmer and a bulb described as dimmable. How it lights and how it is switched The source works inside matt opal glass, so the whole surface of the body glows evenly and with no pronounced direction. The light spreads through the room rather than being aimed at the surface below. The cable is black and carries an inline switch, so it is switched at the lamp itself, without reaching for the socket or fitting a wall switch. It runs on ordinary 230 V. The installation card shows that once the bulb is in, a cylindrical sleeve is slid into the neck. Which rooms it suits The manufacturer intends AMARYLIS for living rooms, bedrooms and studies, and for hotel and restaurant interiors.
