S120 is a ceiling spotlight shaped as a fluted cylinder of brushed aluminium in a brass finish. The head sits on a shallow base and both rotates and tilts, so the direction of the light is set after mounting. The LED sits in a black, recessed opening in the face of the cylinder. How big the fitting is and how it mounts The cylinder is 4.5 cm across and 15 cm tall, its base 4.5 cm across and 3 cm high. The whole thing weighs 0.2 kg with its packaging — on a ceiling it takes up less room than a mug. The manufacturer's data sheet gives no cutting hole and no required depth: the spot fixes to the surface of the ceiling and nothing has to be cut or chased into it. The sheet also records that no connecting cable is supplied. The fitting is safety class II, so no earth conductor is needed. How much light S120 gives and of what kind The built-in LED module draws 7 W and delivers 580 lm in a 36° beam. From two metres away that beam lights a circle roughly 1.3 m across, so the fitting picks out a section of wall, a picture or a worktop rather than lighting a whole room. 3000 K is warm white, close to a classic filament bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra 90 keeps colours inside the beam true, which matters when the spot is aimed at a picture, a wall texture or a display. The manufacturer also states UGR below 15, the figure that describes low glare when you look towards the fitting. The light source is fixed in place and cannot be replaced; the sheet gives its life as L70B50 30 000 h. The fitting is not dimmable, so a dimmer on the circuit will not work with it. The 200 mA driver is built in and the fitting runs straight off 220–240 V mains at 50/60 Hz. Build and where it belongs The body is aluminium with a brushed brass finish, and the vertical flutes around the cylinder catch the light and draw stripes down it. The manufacturer classes the fitting as an indoor ceiling spot, and its colour spread stays within SDCM 6, so several units side by side light in the same shade of white.
