Tollis is a flush ceiling light 30.5 cm across, built from a white steel drum closed top and bottom by a ring of natural brass. A shade of clear ribbed glass hangs beneath it, held by brass straps with knurled thumbscrews. The light falls downward, through that glass. How much room it takes under the ceiling The fitting is 199 mm tall and sits against the ceiling — there is no drop and no height adjustment, so it goes where a pendant will not fit: an entrance hall, a corridor, a room with a low ceiling. The 30.5 cm diameter is a figure to set against the width of the corridor or the distance to the nearest wall. It weighs 2.44 kg, so ordinary ceiling plugs hold it and no anchor into structure is needed. The box measures 37 × 37 × 29 cm and weighs 3.54 kg. The manufacturer intends indoor mounting only, hard-wired to a 220–240 V 50 Hz supply — the fitting has no plug. Bulbs and light There are two E27 sockets, and the maximum lamp rating is 40 W for each. Bulbs are not included, and there is no built-in LED module either, so the colour of the light, the brightness and the energy class are yours to choose when you buy the lamps. For scale: two bulbs of about 800 lm each give roughly the light of two former 60 W bulbs. The glass is clear rather than opal — the bulbs show through the shade, so it is worth picking ones that look good lit. Dimming rests entirely with the lamp: the manufacturer states the fitting works with dimmable lamps, but it carries no control gear of its own, so a dimmer achieves nothing without the right bulbs. Build and origin The body is steel painted white, and every visible fitting — rings, shade straps and screws — is finished in natural brass. The metal cage over the glass and the exposed screw heads are details borrowed from workshop and marine luminaires; with the ribbed glass they read retro rather than modern. The design comes from the Kichler brand, and Tollis as distributed by Quintiesse also includes a brushed-nickel version and single-light pendants.
