The Halmstad 1413BL is an 85 cm bollard light in which the Norwegian manufacturer NORLYS brings together two materials of entirely different character: a square post of impregnated Scandinavian pine, and a head and base of hot-dip galvanised, powder-coated steel in black RAL 9005. The wood gives the bollard warmth and shifts its tone naturally over the years; the steel takes on the jobs wood cannot – ground contact at the foot and protection of the optic at the top. The louvred head, and how it lights The top is closed by a characteristic lantern with horizontal louvres and a milky PMMA lens. The manufacturer describes the distribution as "uncovered light, partly covered from the top", and the figures say exactly the same thing: ULOR is 47%, so almost half the output goes upward and sideways. The BUG classification is B0-U3-G1. In practice this means the Halmstad does not aim all its light at your feet – it is a glowing waypoint, visible from a distance along a drive or a path, that also brightens its surroundings. If a scheme calls for a fitting that limits skyglow, this shape is the wrong choice; if the point is a warm, welcoming marker along a route, it does exactly what is asked of it. An ordinary E27 lamp – and why that is an advantage Inside sits an E27 socket for a lamp of up to 9 W in LED technology. The manufacturer states explicitly that the light source is replaceable by the end user. That is a material difference from bollards with an integrated LED module: after some thousands of hours you change a lamp costing a few euros rather than the whole fitting. Colour and brightness are yours to choose too. No lamp is included, but NORLYS names specific recommendations: Osram LED Parathom Classic E27, Philips Master LEDbulb and Ledbulb Classic E27, and among halogens Osram ECO PRO Classic and Philips ECO Classic. The luminaire can also be ordered from the factory with a Philips Master LEDbulb 806 lm / 8.5 W / 2700 K, dimmable. Durability: IP65, IK10 and a 25-year anti-corrosion guarantee The bollard is rated IP65 – dust-tight and resistant to water jets – and IK10, the highest impact class on that scale. At 85 cm, within reach of a mower, a bicycle and a child's ball, that is not a theoretical figure. The operating range runs from −20 to +45 °C. NORLYS covers the product with a five-year warranty and a separate twenty-five-year anti-corrosion guarantee – a consequence of hot-dip galvanising the steel before powder coating. Installation The fitting is protection class II, meaning it is double insulated and needs no protective earth conductor – a rarity among metal outdoor fittings and a real simplification. The base fixes with three screws through ø9 mm holes set every 120° on a ø65 mm circle. The terminals accept conductors up to 3×2.5 mm², or 3×1.5 mm² when looping through; the gland passes a round cable up to ø12.5 mm. Accessories and spare parts NORLYS lists a set of anchoring parts separately: a concreting anchor (205), a ground anchor (206) and an adapter for a concrete foundation (206S), plus mounting adapters 3080GA and 3086 and connection box 6138. Service parts are available too – a lampshade kit (06295000) and a gasket (08295000) – so damage to the lens does not mean replacing the whole bollard. Finishes and the family The same model comes in three finishes: 1413BL black RAL 9005 (this unit), 1413GR graphite RAL 7016 and 1413GA in bare hot-dip galvanising. The Halmstad family also includes models 1400, 1403 and 1410, so bollards of differing heights and wall fittings in the same idiom can be combined across one garden.
