GES883C is an outdoor wall light shaped as a flat horizontal bar: 28 cm wide, 9 cm tall and projecting only 3.5 cm from the wall. The body is die-cast aluminium in matt white, and the light leaves through glass covers set into the top and bottom edges. Double emission – light up and down This is the property that decides how the fitting reads on a facade. It emits in two directions at once, at a 133° beam each way. The result differs from a conventional single-cover wall light: two broad, soft bands of light appear on the wall – one upward, one downward – with the wall between them lifted by the bounce. At 133° the beam is very wide, so the bands spread out rather than forming the sharp theatrical triangles a narrow optic would give. How much light Two 12 W LED modules give 1310 lm together at a warm 3000 K, with CRI >80 colour rendering. The LED module and the driver are both included – nothing needs buying alongside, and the fitting wires straight to 230 V. Rated life is 30,000 hours. Standing up to the weather An IP54 rating means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction – the level intended for a facade under an overhang, a terrace or a porch, but not for places hit by water jets. The covers are glass, not plastic: glass does not yellow under UV and does not go cloudy after a few seasons, which counts measurably on an outdoor fitting. The aluminium casting carries heat away from the LED modules. Protection class I – an earth conductor is required. Family The same bar comes in three finishes: matt white (GES883C, 1310 lm), graphite grey (GES884C, 1150 lm) and brown (GES885C, 1150 lm) – white being the brightest, since a pale body bounces extra light onto the wall. Each finish also has a neutral 4000 K variant (GES883N 1450 lm, GES884N and GES885N 1270 lm each). Alongside this version the manufacturer makes a shorter 17.5 cm bar for 2 × 6 W (GES880C–GES882C).
