GPL414 is a ceiling-mounted tube, 80 cm long and 3.5 cm across, in matt white. It is one of the two parts of the Gea Luce modular ceiling light: the tube itself does not light, the light comes from a spotlight that slots inside it. What this ceiling light is made of The manufacturer splits the system into two separately bought parts — the tube fixed to the ceiling and the spotlight that fits inside it. The tube comes in two lengths, 50 and 80 cm, and in four matt finishes: white, black, silver and bronze. Any length can be combined with a spotlight in any of those colours, so the tube and the head can be kept in one tone or deliberately contrasted. GPL414 is the 80 cm version in matt white. Its 50 cm counterpart in the same finish is GPL410; the black, silver and bronze 80 cm variants are GPL415, GPL416 and GPL417. The spotlight is bought separately The tube houses a decorative spotlight from the GFA1740–GFA1743 range: a 10 W LED module on 220–240 V with a 36° beam and colour rendering above Ra 90. The white version, GFA1740, gives 509 lm at 3000 K — warm white light; that output concentrated in a narrow beam lights a defined surface rather than a whole room. The spotlight comes with its wiring and a power supply unit, but the unit is not integrated into the fitting — space has to be allowed for it above the ceiling. The tube itself holds neither a lamp nor a driver. Where it works The tube lowers the light point 80 cm below the ceiling. That figure is worth comparing with the height of your own room and with a tabletop at 75 cm, above which the bottom edge of a fitting is usually set 70–80 cm higher — in a low room the 80 cm version comes down too far, in a tall one it closes a distance a spotlight at ceiling level could not.
