Form 4 White is a pendant built on a plain white bar 120 cm long, under which sit four cone shades 16 cm across and 14 cm high. Each shade is mounted on a joint, so it turns and tilts on its own. The insides of the shades are painted white. Size and suspension The bar is 120 cm long, the whole fitting measures 115 cm from the ceiling and is 26 cm deep. Compare the bar length with the table top it will hang over — above a shorter table the outer shades will overhang the edge. The fitting hangs on two cables set 70 cm apart, covered by a 10 cm ceiling rose. The drop is usually shortened so the lower edge of the shades sits 70–80 cm above the table top — light then covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of people seated. The lamp weighs 2 kg. Adjustable shades and the direction of light The four jointed shades turn and tilt independently, so the light can be split between four different places — the table, a wall or the ceiling — without rehanging the fitting. Pointed down they give four distinct pools of light; angled up they light the room by reflection off the ceiling. Each shade is a narrow cone 16 cm across and 14 cm high, and its white interior brightens the reflected light. That shape keeps the beam under the fitting instead of spreading it across the room, so what is directly below gets lit first. Light sources and where to hang it The fitting has four light points with E27 sockets, intended for LED bulbs of up to 15 W each. Colour and brightness depend on the bulbs you fit — over a table most people choose 2700–3000 K, warm light with a slightly yellow cast. The manufacturer intends this model for use over a dining table, over a desk and over a kitchen island — wherever the fitting hangs along a long worktop.
