Dallas MOD547PL-25BS is a pendant made of 25 opal white glass spheres set on a straight metal bar 123.5 cm long. The spheres are staggered across three levels, which gives the body 22.8 cm of height and 23.8 cm of depth. The metal parts are finished in gold. How big it is and where to hang it The fitting hangs between 44.8 and 133.9 cm and the height is set by shortening the suspension cables. The bottom edge of the spheres usually ends up 70–80 cm above a table top, so the light covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of those seated at it. The bar is 123.5 cm long, a figure to compare with your own table. The canopy is rectangular, 26 × 9 cm and 2 cm deep, and covers a standard junction box. The luminaire weighs 4.3 kg and hangs on two steel cables, with a 120 cm supply lead. In a plasterboard ceiling the fixing has to reach the supporting structure. How many lamps you need to prepare The bar holds 25 G9 lampholders, each rated up to 28 W. The colour and brightness of the whole fitting come from a set of 25 lamps, so buy them at once from one series — colour differences between makers show when the lamps sit side by side. The manufacturer states the luminaire is not dimmable, so the light level is decided entirely by the lamps you choose. Opal glass is milky and scatters light in every direction, so the room is lit softly and without a hard shadow underneath. Build and installation conditions The spheres are blown glass; the bar and the holders are metal in a gold finish. The luminaire is protection class I, so the circuit must have an earth conductor — it cannot be connected without one. IP20 covers dry interiors only. The Dallas series also includes ceiling luminaires, smaller pendants and a floor lamp built from the same spheres, so several fittings in one room can be drawn from a single family. What interior it suits The form is modern: one shape repeated geometrically, with no ornament and no shade hiding the structure.
