Burford 76551 is an outdoor lamp post 218 cm tall. A six-sided lantern with clear glass panels is topped by a finial, and the column is fluted, tapering upwards from a stepped base. The whole thing is die-cast aluminium painted matt black. Dimensions and where it stands The post measures 218 cm and the lantern is 22.5 cm across. At that height the lantern sits above an adult's eye level, so the lamp does not glare at anyone walking the path. The structure weighs 5 kg and stands on a flat foot that bolts down onto a solid surface. The lamp is bought separately The fitting has one E27 lampholder rated to a maximum of 60 W, and that ceiling must not be exceeded. No bulb is supplied, so colour and brightness are yours to choose. The manufacturer suggests an LED filament lamp — through the clear panels the filament itself is then visible, which is what the old lanterns looked like. Because no lamp is included, the manufacturer publishes no luminous flux for the lantern: it depends entirely on what is fitted into it. Build and connection The body is powder-coated cast aluminium alloy in matt black and the panels are clear glass. The manufacturer rates the fitting IP44 — protection against splashing water from any direction — and intends it for outdoor use. The lantern runs on 230 V and is protection class I, so the connection has to carry an earth conductor; on a garden cable run this is worth checking before installation.
