LUCE BLACK is a pendant light with three metal shades hung from a single round ceiling plate 30 cm across. The shades are cylinders tapering towards the top, open at the bottom and finished in matt black — as are the plate and the cords. The three cords are of different lengths, so the shades hang at staggered heights. How big it is and where to hang it The ceiling plate covers a circle 30 cm across, and the whole fitting measures 120 cm including the suspension. Compare that figure with your own ceiling height: above a table the bottom edge of the shade should sit 70–80 cm above the top, so the light covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of anyone seated. The three staggered shades form a cluster rather than a row, which suits a round table or a square worktop. The set weighs 1.9 kg packed, so an ordinary ceiling hook carries it; a plasterboard ceiling needs a fixing into the supporting structure. How much light it gives and which bulbs to buy The fitting takes three E27 lamps of up to 60 W each. No bulbs are included, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself. Three lamps of roughly 800 lm each match three of the old 60 W bulbs, and 2700–3000 K gives warm, slightly yellow light. The shades are opaque metal and open only downwards, so the light falls on the surface below the lamp instead of spreading through the room. The fitting has no built-in dimmer: dimming needs bulbs described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit. The IP20 rating covers dry interiors only, which rules out a terrace and the splash zone of a bathroom. The shape is modern: plain cylinders with no ornament and visible black cords instead of a decorative suspension.
