The Wonderland MOD313PL-06G is a pendant shaped as a low cylinder 50 cm across. A gold mirror coating covers the upper part of the shade, the lower part is clear, and a ring of faceted crystal elements runs inside it. The fitting hangs on three cables from a round canopy 10 cm in diameter. How big it is and how high to hang it The shade is 50 cm across and 20.5 cm high. Over a table that diameter keeps its proportions above a top wider than 90 cm or above a round table; over a narrow top the fitting will overhang the edges. The lower rim is usually hung 70–80 cm above the table top, so the light covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of anyone seated. The manufacturer gives the overall suspension height as adjustable from 40.5 to 170.5 cm, so the pendant suits a low ceiling as readily as a stairwell or a room with a gallery. The canopy measures 10 cm across and 2.5 cm deep. The fitting itself weighs 11.15 kg — a weight at which the fixing has to reach the structural ceiling rather than plasterboard alone. How much light it gives The shade holds six E14 lampholders, each taking a bulb of up to 20 W. Colour and brightness are chosen with the bulbs, because the manufacturer publishes neither luminous flux nor colour temperature for this fitting. Six separate points spread around the circumference light the inside of the shade evenly and bring the crystal elements alight from within. Maytoni has not made this fitting dimmable, so brightness is settled by the choice of bulbs. Construction and wiring The body is stainless steel in a gold finish; the manufacturer describes the Wonderland series as fittings with a glass shade and crystal elements inside, the mirror finish matched to the colour of the metal. The fitting is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor — it must not be installed on wiring without one. An IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors. Where it fits The manufacturer intends this pendant for above a dining table, for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, and for hotel and restaurant interiors.
