The RENDL MADISON W is a swing-arm wall light: a chrome two-section arm runs from a square wall plate to a cylindrical white fabric shade 25 cm across. Fully extended, the fitting reaches 86.5 cm from the wall. The arm is the product The construction has two joints — one at the wall, one at the elbow — plus a pivoting shade mount. The arm folds flat against the wall or extends to its full length, and that is the difference between this and an ordinary wall light: it does not light the wall it hangs on, it lights wherever you move it to. Over a bed that means light on the book rather than on the headboard; over an armchair, on your lap rather than on the backrest. The practical consequence: at 86.5 cm of reach, check that the extended arm does not foul anything — a wardrobe door on its swing, a walkway beside the bed. That is a one-off check, before drilling. The shade and the light The shade is a white fabric cylinder 25 cm across, open top and bottom. The white fabric passes some light sideways, giving a soft glow around the fitting, while the open bottom sends the main beam straight down — onto whatever the arm is currently aimed at. This is not a fitting for lighting a whole room but for lighting one place in it. E27 socket — lamp bought separately There is one E27 socket rated to 15 W, and no lamp is included. A 15 W limit is low for E27 and follows from the fabric shade sitting close to the bulb — but with LED it is no obstacle at all: 15 W of LED is over 1500 lm, far more than reading needs. In practice a 6–9 W lamp at 2700–3000 K is enough. Dimming is possible but depends on the lamp fitted: the luminaire has no control of its own, so a dimmable E27 lamp and a wall dimmer are both needed, bought separately. Mounting and build The fitting mounts on a square wall plate, supply 230 V. It weighs 1.66 kg — light in itself, but an extended arm works as a lever, so the fixing has to be sound: a plug matched to the wall material, and in plasterboard an anchor reaching the framing rather than a screw into the board.
