RIM is a black ring 40 cm across standing only 5 cm off the wall, carried on a narrow 15 × 6.5 cm base. An aluminium profile holds an LED strip whose light escapes through a silicone diffuser running right around the hoop — so the whole circle glows evenly, with no diodes visible.500 lumens from 23 W — what that really meansThose two numbers have to be read together. The fitting draws 23 W and returns 500 lm, about 22 lm/W — several times less than a technical ceiling light. Hence the G energy class. That is not a build flaw but a consequence of what RIM is: a decorative luminaire, where the glowing hoop is meant to be seen as a drawing on the wall rather than to light the room. 500 lm is roughly one 5 W LED bulb — enough for a soft glow beside a bed, in a hallway or next to a mirror, but no substitute for main lighting. Buying RIM means buying the shape, not the output.Two colour temperatures in one fittingThe sconce has a switchable 3000 K and 4000 K — warmer and neutral. Maytoni sells fixed-colour versions separately (MOD058WL-L25B3K for 3000 K and MOD058WL-L25B4K for 4000 K), so this is the one that leaves the choice to the user. Output is practically identical either way: 500 lm at 3000 K and 504 lm at 4000 K. Colour rendering is CRI 80 and the beam angle 120° — the light spreads wide and washes the wall softly around the ring.TRIAC dimmingThe fitting is dimmable, and the manufacturer names the control protocol: TRIAC, an ordinary leading-edge dimmer fitted in the back box in place of the switch. No bus and no controller needed. On a decorative fitting dimming genuinely earns its place — full output draws a crisp hoop, dimmed it becomes a gentle accent for the evening.Combining into installationsMaytoni designed the Rim series so that several rings can be combined into one installation using dedicated mounting accessories; the family includes ready two- and three-ring configurations. That is worth remembering when planning a large wall: two or three circles in different sizes read as a deliberate composition, whereas a single 40 cm ring on a wide empty wall can look lost.Installation and longevityThe fitting is protection class I and needs an earth conductor. The light source is permanently built in — there is no bulb to change, and when its life ends the whole luminaire is replaced. The manufacturer states 50,000 hours, which at three hours a day is roughly 45 years. Maytoni covers the product with a 5-year warranty.
