NUMINOS GIMBLE XL is a recessed ceiling downlight whose whole reflector sits in a gimbal: the white outer ring stays flush with the ceiling while the chrome cone rotates and tilts inside it. The body is aluminium, the cover polycarbonate, and the LED module is permanently built in. The cut-out it needs and how far it reaches above the ceiling The visible ring measures 19 cm across and the cut-out 17.5 cm. Above the ceiling the fitting takes 13.5 cm; the drawing splits that into 13.2 cm of body above the ceiling plane and a 3 mm bezel below it. Installation depth therefore equals the fitting's overall height, and that much clear space must remain above a suspended ceiling. The leaf springs clamp a panel 7 to 25 mm thick, the figure to check against your own plasterboard. Net weight is 0.86 kg. SLV specifies the fitting for ceiling installation indoors only. How much light it gives and where you can aim it The LED module delivers 3750 lm for 37.4 W at 4000 K, a neutral white with no yellow cast. Ra 90 means colours read almost as they do in daylight, and a UGR of no more than 22 is the glare figure that lets a fitting sit over a workstation or displayed goods. The beam angle is 55°, and the gimbal turns the cone through 355° and tilts it 60° off vertical. The light can be aimed at a wall, a shelf or a picture after installation, without moving the hole. SLV rates the module at 50,000 hours to the L80B50 criterion; the light source is changed by a professional, not by the user. What is not in the box The fitting runs on a constant current of 1000/1050 mA in protection class III, so it is never connected straight to 230 V. The LED driver is not included and must be bought separately; SLV names its own 1004059, 1004066 and 1004071 converters, the last a DALI version. The lead leaving the fitting is 10 cm long, and the manual allows 20 to 200 cm between driver and luminaire; within that run the driver must find a place above the ceiling.
