Nordik SP4 is a pendant with a tapered drum shade 50 cm across. The shade is built from gold PVC foil covered on the outside with black fabric — from below you see the gold interior, from the side matt black. The frame and the canopy are metal varnished in matt black. How big it is and at what height it hangs The shade alone is 50 cm across and 28 cm tall, and the canopy is 11 cm across. The fitting hangs on steel wires that are shortened at installation: total height falls between 53 cm and 228 cm. Over a table the drop is usually set so that the lower edge of the shade sits 70–80 cm above the top. A 50 cm shade keeps its proportion over a table 80–90 cm wide, and at that height it covers the whole surface with light. The fitting weighs 1,5 kg. How much light it gives and what lamps to buy Inside there are four E27 lampholders, each for a lamp of up to 60 W. No lamps are supplied, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — four sources of roughly 800 lm each already amount to general lighting for a large room rather than just the zone over the table. The fabric is opaque, so the light leaves through the open bottom of the shade. The gold foil on the inside acts as a reflector and gives the reflected light a warm cast, whatever the colour temperature of the lamps themselves. Build, connection and collection The fitting is for indoor use and works between 0 and +40 °C on a 220–240 V supply. It is class II, which means double insulation and no earth conductor to connect — that makes it easier to fit in an older installation without earthing. Ingress protection is IP20.
