VT-779 is the recessed fitting alone — a square aluminium frame in satin nickel that takes any GU10 lamp you choose. The manufacturer sells it as a spotlight fitting, that is, a housing without a light source: you decide the wattage, the colour temperature and the beam angle, and you can change your mind later without replacing the fitting. The tilting ring The inner ring holding the lampholder is gimbal-mounted and tilts away from vertical. That lets one fitting do two quite different jobs: set straight it washes the space below evenly, tilted it aims the beam at a wall, a picture, a shelf or a worktop. In a row of several, it means you can point the light where it is needed instead of flooding the whole room. Dimensions and cut-out The frame is 82 × 82 mm and 22 mm thick, and the hole to cut in a suspended ceiling is 74 mm in diameter — the number that matters most when planning. The fitting holds itself in the opening on two spring clips, so mounting needs no screws and no extra frame. The void above the ceiling has to suit the height of the GU10 lamp you pick, because the lamp, not the frame, sets the required depth. Build and use The housing is aluminium finished in satin nickel — a matt, cool silver that does not throw specular highlights and does not shout against a white ceiling.
