Charlotte P0109 is a six-arm pendant light in a chrome finish. The arms are bent twice, the stem is a vertical row of glass balls, and a glass crystal shaped like an elongated drop hangs under every arm. Six white fabric shades sit on the arms. How much room it takes The fitting is 70 cm across and the maker gives 130 cm as the maximum drop. Seventy centimetres is a figure to set against the width of a table: over a table narrower than 90 cm the fitting overhangs its outline, and over a dining table the lower edge of the shades usually hangs 70–80 cm above the top. The ceiling canopy is 14 cm across and 4 cm high, so it covers a standard installation box. The shades are small — 12 cm across at the top, 16 cm at the bottom, 18 cm high — and spread around a 70 cm circle they leave clear gaps between them. The lamps have to be bought separately The fitting takes six E14 lamps, each up to 40 W, on a 230 V supply. The maker states outright that no bulbs are included, so six of them have to be bought at once. Forty watts is the ceiling for one socket, not the fitting's consumption. Colour and brightness are chosen with the lamps: across six points even warm, modest sources add up to a room's main light rather than mood alone. The fabric shades are opaque at the sides and open top and bottom, so light goes mainly downwards and up to the ceiling, and the glass crystals under the arms sit in that stream. IP20 restricts it to dry rooms. What it is made of The build combines three materials: chrome-finished metal in the arms and stem, glass in the stem balls and the crystals, and fabric on the shades. The crystals and balls come off for transport, so the fitting is assembled after unpacking. What the maker intends it for The maker points Charlotte at bedrooms and living rooms, and among commercial interiors names hotels, beauty salons and restaurants.
