Statek is a children's table lamp whose base is a wooden boat hull set on a rectangular board. Turned posts carry a rope railing along the sides, and the deck holds an anchor, a lifebuoy and a ship's wheel. A chromed stem rises from the deck and carries a white oval cotton shade. How big it is and where it stands The base board is 27 cm wide and 14 cm deep, and the whole lamp stands 26.5 cm high. Those are the figures to compare with a bedside table or the free space on a desk — the lamp takes up a strip about the length of an open book, and at that height the shade throws light across the top rather than into a seated child's eyes. Bulb and switching The E27 socket takes one bulb of up to 60 W. The manufacturer recommends a bulb in a white or natural light colour so that toys and books keep their true colours. The cotton shade is opaque at the sides and open at the top and bottom, so the light goes onto the tabletop and up towards the ceiling. The lamp has a cord ending in a plug, with a switch on the cord — it is set down and plugged in, with no installation. It runs on 230 V, and IP20 keeps it to dry rooms. What it is made of and how to look after it The base is birch, finished in a clear lacquer that brings out the grain; the manufacturer states that the lacquer carries child-safety certification. The deck details are wooden and the stem is metal. The cotton shade is cleaned by wiping it with a dry or damp cloth.
