ANCONA Maxi is a round flush ceiling light 31.5 cm across: a white metal rim with an opal glass diffuser set into it, held by three white clips. The fitting sits against the ceiling and projects 8 cm below it. Fit and mounting The 31.5 cm body doubles as the canopy, so it covers the ceiling rose box and needs no separate cover plate. The fitting weighs 1.35 kg. The manufacturer allows mounting on a ceiling or on a wall, but not on a hook — it is screwed straight to the surface. ANCONA Maxi is a Class 1 fitting, so the connection needs an earth conductor. The manufacturer does not provide for wiring several of these in parallel from one outlet. It runs on 220–240 V. Bulbs and the light they give There are two E27 sockets, and the manufacturer allows an LED source of up to 15 W in each. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself; two sources instead of one spread the light evenly across the whole diffuser. The opal glass is milky and opaque — it diffuses the light and hides the bulbs, so there are no bright spots visible under the fitting. The light can be dimmed, but that needs dimmable bulbs and a dimmer: the fitting itself has no built-in electronics. Wet rooms The manufacturer gives the protection rating as IP44/43, the value depending on how it is mounted. IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction — the level at which a fitting may hang in a bathroom outside the direct reach of the shower, and equally in a utility room or over a kitchen sink. Finish and where it belongs The rim is metal painted in RAL 9016 white and the opal glass matches that shade. There is no ornament and no visible screw head — apart from the three clips holding the glass, only the geometry of the circle is left. The manufacturer describes the pattern as minimalist and classic. In the catalogue the fitting is assigned to the living room, the bedroom and the bathroom.
