Vejers Down is an outdoor wall light in black: a metal shade built from three overlapping rings, a clear glass cylinder beneath them, and the whole head facing downwards. The fitting reaches 26 cm out from the wall on a straight arm ending in a round back plate. Where to mount it and how much room it needs The shade is 22 cm across, the fitting 23 cm high, and it projects 26 cm from the wall. That last figure decides whether the light will sit beside a front door without fouling the leaf — worth comparing against the distance from the frame to the mounting point. It weighs 1.327 kg. Nordlux intends it for a driveway, an entrance, a terrace or a patio. IP54 protects against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the fitting takes rain on an unsheltered wall. The manufacturer does not, however, rate this black version as suitable for seaside use — along the coast, where salt speeds up corrosion, the galvanized version of the same family is the one to choose. How it lights and which lamp it needs The fitting takes one E27 lamp of up to 60 W. The lamp is not included, so you choose colour and brightness yourself — at an entrance or on a terrace that usually means 2700 K, a warm light with a yellow cast close to an old incandescent bulb. The shade faces down and the glass under it is clear, so light falls straight onto the doorstep or the paving and escapes sideways through the gaps between the rings. The lamp stays visible through the glass — with that construction a frosted bulb is easier on the eye than a clear one with a bright filament. The fitting can be dimmed, but that needs a dimmable lamp and a dimmer. Wiring several fittings, and mounting Vejers Down has a built-in parallel connection: further fittings connect to the same supply line instead of each needing its own cable run. That is the arrangement for a row of wall lights along a driveway or a facade. The fitting is protection class 1, so the supply cable has to carry an earth conductor and the installation has to be earthed.
