The Ocean Ripple is a photo frame for the 10 × 15 cm format, 17.5 × 22.5 cm on the outside and 1.5 cm thick. Its face is laid with narrow strips of buffalo bone, set side by side and dyed turquoise — hence the rippled, ribbed pattern the frame is named for. Buffalo bone — what it changes This is not a veneer or a printed texture. Every rib is a separate piece of bone, glued onto a wooden carcass and polished smooth. Bone has a natural density and a cool, stone-hard sheen that plastic does not reproduce. The dye soaks in unevenly, so the turquoise runs deeper in places and rubs towards green or grey in others — no two frames repeat the same pattern. The maker says so plainly: variation in shade and texture is a mark of handwork, not a fault. Construction The frame is handmade in India. The sides and back are left in bare wood, which sets up a clear contrast with the decorated face. A hinged wooden strut is fitted on the back, so the frame stands on its own — on a console, a nightstand or an open shelf. Care The product is intended for indoor decorative use only. Wipe dust away with a clean, dry cloth; do not use solvents or harsh cleaners. Bone does not take well to damp or strong sun — prolonged direct sunlight can fade the dye and high humidity can cause warping. A windowsill above a radiator, or a bathroom, is the wrong place; a living-room shelf or a bedside table is the right one.
