Canto 2 is an outdoor wall light shaped as a stainless steel cylinder 10.6 cm tall and 8.7 cm wide, throwing light upward and downward at the same time. An integrated LED module does the work, and the design is signed by the Danish studio Bønnelycke MDD. Four light patterns from one fitting Three pattern inserts come in the box. They slot into the openings of the fitting and change the shape of the patch on the wall. Together with the plain version that gives four different light images: a narrow beam running up and down, a fan of spreading rays, and a wide triangular wash. The inserts are swapped without tools and without taking the fitting off the wall, so the effect can be chosen after mounting, once you can see how the light falls on your own render or brick. The energy class is F. The LED module is not replaceable, and the manufacturer rates its life at 30 000 h. The fitting is not dimmable, so it cannot be put on a dimmer or turned down by anything other than its switch. Mounting and supply The wall light projects 10 cm from the wall and weighs 0.55 kg. It runs on 230 V and is class 1, which means earth contact: the back box has to carry a protective conductor, not only live and neutral. The fitting has built-in parallel connection, so several of them can be fed from one circuit without a separate run to each. The sales box measures 11.2 x 10.6 x 9.3 cm. Where it can hang and how to look after it An IP44 rating covers splashing water from any direction, and the manufacturer allows mounting outdoors as well as indoors. The diffuser is clear glass and the body stainless steel. Nordlux states outright that this fitting is not intended for seaside use or harsh weather, and that the stainless steel has to be treated with acid-free oil three to four times a year.
