CREEK 8859 is a round outdoor luminaire 17 cm across, which the manufacturer intends for the wall as well as the ceiling. A ring frame holds the milky round diffuser, and the whole fitting stands 10 cm off the mounting surface. The corten finish is a coating that imitates weathering steel — the manufacturer gives RAL 8028 for it — and the body itself is polycarbonate. Where it can be mounted IP65 means full protection against dust and against water jets, so the fitting can sit on an unsheltered facade, above a front door or on a terrace with no roof over it. The manufacturer rates it protection class II, so no earth conductor is needed for the connection. At 17 cm across and 10 cm of projection, this is a size to compare with the width of the pier or door reveal it is to sit on. It weighs 0.37 kg and runs on 220–240 V mains. The light it gives The built-in LED module draws 15 W and delivers 1200 lm — about one and a half old 60 W bulbs, which at a 120° beam is enough for an entrance or a section of terrace. The colour rendering index is Ra 80. The colour of the light is chosen from three settings: 2700 K, 3300 K and 4000 K. The first is warm and yellowish, the last neutral white, so the fitting can be matched to the rest of the lighting on the property. This is not continuous adjustment but three steps, and the fitting cannot be dimmed. Service life The manufacturer states 30,000 hours of module life and 30,000 switching cycles, along with a five-year warranty. The light source cannot be replaced — it is permanently built in, so the life of the diodes is the life of the whole fitting.
