Clooney is an eight-light pendant built from bevelled smoke glass panels held in a steel frame finished in a slate grey tone. The shade measures 50 cm across and the fitting hangs on a chain. How big it is and how high it hangs The drop adjusts between 50 and 122 cm. Over a dining table the lower edge usually goes 70–80 cm above the top — the light then covers the whole surface without shining into the eyes of the people sitting there; under a low ceiling the same range lets you shorten the drop to its minimum. Fifty centimetres is noticeably more than the 40 cm that keeps proportion over a table 80–90 cm wide, so Clooney is meant for a wider table or for the middle of a room. The fitting weighs 7.5 kg — that load has to be carried by the hook or anchor in the ceiling, and by the supporting structure behind a plasterboard soffit. Which lamps it needs The pendant holds eight E14 lampholders, each taking a lamp of up to 40 W. No lamps are included — putting it into service means buying eight at once, which is worth adding to the price. The manufacturer recommends LED candle lamps with a visible filament: the bevelled edges of the glass refract the point-like light of such a lamp instead of smearing it. Colour and brightness are chosen when you buy the lamps; in a dining room the usual choice is warm light around 2700 K. Build and connection The glass panels are smoke-tinted and bevelled, and the metal parts carry a grey slate-effect finish. The fitting hangs on a metal chain, with the transparent supply flex running alongside it. The fitting works in protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor at the ceiling outlet; in an older installation without one, that has to be run first.
