GIN is a table lamp 25 cm tall in which a flat disc-shaped shade 22 cm across rests on a slim column set on a round base. The collection was designed by the team at the Spanish brand Mantra. This piece is the café version — a warm, coppery brown to RAL 8007.The light comes out sideways, not downThe construction of the shade is the point here. Instead of aiming the beam at the surface, GIN encloses the light source in a flat acrylic disc and lets it out through a ring running all the way around. The result is a glowing hoop at the eye level of a seated person — soft, diffuse, with no hard circle of light beneath the lamp.
