Chloe is a surface-mounted cylindrical downlight in brushed silver aluminium. Behind the chrome front ring sit twelve separate diodes, each in its own faceted reflector. How it is mounted and how much room it takes The fitting is surface-mounted, so it needs no ceiling void — it is fixed to the finished surface, including a concrete slab, where a recessed downlight cannot be seated at all. The whole body stays below the ceiling: the manufacturer gives 107.5 × 120 mm, a cylinder just under 11 cm across that projects 12 cm into the room. The driver is included, so there is nothing to buy separately and nothing to find space for in the build-up. The fitting runs on 230 V, 50 Hz and draws 70 mA. How much light it gives and of what kind Drawing 12 W, the fitting puts out 960 lm, which works out at 80 lm/W. For comparison a former 60 W bulb gave about 800 lm, so one Chloe covers it with room to spare — but it distributes that light differently. The beam angle is 45°, so the light lands as a clearly outlined circle below the fitting instead of filling a whole room; lighting a room means planning several units on a grid. 6000 K is cold light with a distinctly bluish white, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough for tasks where colours need not match to the exact shade. The source is permanently built in and cannot be replaced — the manufacturer states 17,000 hours of life and 15,000 switching cycles, which matters where the light goes on and off dozens of times a day. The fitting does not work with a dimmer. Where it can work The manufacturer intends Chloe for interiors only and gives an operating temperature range of −20 to +40 °C. The housing is aluminium, which carries the heat away from the diodes, and the fitting works in protection class II — no earth conductor has to be run to the ceiling outlet.
