Hopton 101540 is a flush ceiling light shaped like a shallow drum: a matt black steel frame wraps around a clear glass shade, and the underside stays open. The bulb shows through the glass and becomes part of how the fitting looks. It mounts straight onto the ceiling on a round plate, with no drop. How much space it takes below the ceiling The shade measures 31 cm across and the fitting projects 21.5 cm below the ceiling — that is how much room height it takes up. Endon intends this model for rooms with low ceilings and for hallways, where a pendant on a drop would use up too much headroom. The fitting weighs 2 kg and screws to the ceiling through a plate that covers the installation box. It is a class II fitting, so it needs no earth connection and works with older two-core wiring as well. Which bulb to buy for it Inside there is a single E27 lampholder for an LED bulb of up to 10 W. The bulb is not supplied, so you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself. Because the glass is clear, the bulb stays fully visible — Endon recommends LED filament lamps for this model: the classic GLS shape or a 95 mm globe. The fitting can be dimmed, but the dimming happens on the installation side: you need a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer switch. The fitting itself carries no control gear or driver. How it spreads the light and where it fits The glass is clear and does not diffuse the light, and the lower edge is open — so light goes down onto the floor beneath the fitting and sideways through the walls of the shade. The character of the lighting comes from the bulb: a clear filament lamp gives sharp reflections in the glass and a visible point of light, while an opal bulb reads softer. Endon intends this fitting for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways.
