The Zambelis 23238 is a single-light pendant from the Mineral Textures range: a green marble sphere hangs on a black cable, with a brass ring below it and a cream gypsum shade with a fluted surface at the bottom. The body measures 16 cm across and 25 cm high, cable excluded. How big it is and how high to hang it The shade is 16 cm across and 11 cm high, which makes this an accent fitting rather than a room's main light. Over a table 80–90 cm wide a single shade this size loses the proportion; such pendants are usually hung in twos or threes. The fabric-braided cable is 200 cm and adjustable, so the lower edge of the shade can be set at the usual 70–80 cm above a tabletop even under a high ceiling. The ceiling rose is 8 cm across and 3.5 cm high: it covers a standard installation box, but not a larger opening. Which bulb it takes The fitting takes one E14 bulb of up to 15 W, and none is supplied — you choose the colour and brightness of the light yourself. The manufacturer publishes no lighting figures, because they depend entirely on the bulb you fit. The luminaire has no dimming circuit of its own, so regulating the brightness calls for a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the installation. The shade is open at the bottom, so the light falls mainly on the surface below, and the bulb is visible when you look up at it. Brass, marble and gypsum The manufacturer names three materials: brass on the ring, marble on the sphere and gypsum on the shade. Marble is a natural stone, so the veining falls differently on every sphere. The gypsum shade has a matt surface with vertical grooves, which scatters light differently from smooth glass. The fitting belongs to protection class I: the installation has to bring an earth conductor PE to the box alongside live and neutral. Its IP20 rating confines it to dry interiors. Where it fits A stone sphere and a plain brass ring sit close to a modernist style — geometric form and material carry it, not decoration. The small diameter and long adjustable cable make the fitting most usable in a group: over a kitchen island, over a dining table, or on both sides of a bed.
