BAZAR BIZAR Chisomo Banana Leaf Basket Brown ø42 x 33 cm

Name: BAZAR BIZAR Chisomo Banana Leaf Basket Brown ø42 x 33 cm
Brand: BAZAR BIZAR

Chisomo is a round basket 42 cm across and 33 cm tall, woven from dried banana leaf. The body steps inward as it rises — three woven bands of decreasing diameter finish in a rolled collar, and two bow-shaped handles of twisted rope stand above it. The colour is deep brown. How big it is and where it stands The base is the widest part: 42 cm across is about the size of a decent bedside table top, so the basket belongs on the floor rather than on a piece of furniture. At 33 cm tall it reaches roughly half the seat height of an ordinary sofa, which keeps it within arm's reach beside one. Empty it weighs 2.4 kg, so it does not slide across the floor by accident, yet it is not a load that needs two hands to reposition. What it holds and how it is carried The basket is open at the top and has no lid — the contents stay visible, which suits things reached for often. The maker names the living room, the bathroom and use as a magazine holder. The two handles rise above the collar on opposite sides, so the basket is carried with both hands in front of you — filled, it cannot be lifted one-handed by its flank. What it is made of and where it may stand The banana leaf is twisted into a rope and wound in tight horizontal coils, which the close-up photographs show. Because the weaving is done by hand, the run of the coils, the shade and small irregularities differ between pieces. The maker marks the basket for indoor use. That rules out a terrace, a balcony and a garden, where rain and frost would act directly on the fibre. It is made in Indonesia.Mostrar mais
