Lysfjord 6425GR is an outdoor wall light in cast aluminium, finished graphite, 33.5 cm tall and weighing 5.6 kg. It is not a decorative fitting for an entrance – it is an accent luminaire with a narrow, one-sided beam aimed upwards, made for grazing a façade, a column or an architectural detail. A 4° beam in one direction The manufacturer describes the distribution as one-sided light at 4° upwards. Four degrees is as narrow as a spotlight – from five metres it lights a strip barely 40 cm wide. That distribution has one specific purpose: to run a band of light across the plane of a wall so that the texture of brick, stone or render stands out, rather than lifting the surface evenly. The BUG rating of B0-U2-G0 and ULOR of 100% follow from that intent – all the output goes upward, so the fitting belongs aimed at a wall, not at open sky. Declared output is 37 lm at 14.6 W. Glass, not plastic The cover is optical glass rather than polycarbonate. On an accent fitting that is a functional choice: glass shapes a narrow beam more precisely than plastic and – more importantly outdoors – does not yellow or haze under UV, so the beam looks the same after ten years as on day one. The body is a painted aluminium casting, sealed with a silicone gasket and an EPDM gland – ozone- and UV-resistant rubber that does not harden in frost. IP65 and IK08 IP65 means complete dust-tightness and protection against water jets from any direction. IK08 is resistance to a 5-joule impact – on a fitting mounted low on a façade, within reach of a mower, a bicycle or a ball, that is the figure that really decides its lifespan. The 5.6 kg tells the rest: this is a solid casting, not a thin-walled housing. DALI2 and NightDim control The fitting works to the DALI2 standard, so it is addressable: the control system gives it its own number, and it dims and joins scenes independently of its neighbours without a separate circuit to each. NORLYS also lists the NightDim function against it – a night-time reduction in output, a common approach in architectural lighting where brightness drops to a maintenance level after peak hours instead of burning at full power until morning. Light and quality 4000 K is neutral white – it does not tint brick or stone yellow, which is usually what façade lighting wants. CRI 80 is enough for architectural work, and SDCM 3 guarantees that several fittings run along one wall will emit the same tint – a colour difference between adjacent bands is instantly visible.
