Five exposed lampholders on splayed arms Studio 98786 is a semi-flush ceiling light in the sputnik spirit: a short stem drops from a round canopy, and five straight arms spread from it at different angles and different heights. Each ends in an exposed E27 lampholder — no shade, no diffuser. That is a deliberate design decision, because here the bulb is visible and forms part of the fitting's look; the manufacturer explicitly recommends this model for decorative filament lamps. Semi-flush: 30.5 cm below the ceiling At 53 cm across, the fitting drops only 30.5 cm below the ceiling — a construction meant for rooms of standard or lower height, where a chandelier on a chain would hang too low. Bear in mind that the lamp adds to those 30.5 cm: a G125 globe contributes another 17–18 cm, a candle lamp considerably less. The size and shape of the bulb therefore change not only the look but the real hanging height. Five E27 lamps up to 10 W The holders take E27 lamps of up to 10 W in LED — five points come to 50 W of electrical load, which with modern lamps means somewhere around 3000–4000 lm, enough to light a living or dining room. Bulbs are not included. The fitting is dimmable provided the lamps used are dimmable too and a suitable dimmer is wired in — with exposed filaments a smooth dim looks particularly good. Steel in satin brass The structure is steel, electroplated in satin brass — a warm matt gold with no mirror gloss. The tone sits well with dark timber, navy and bottle green, and with exposed warm-white filament lamps it makes a coherent amber whole. The fitting weighs only 0.9 kg, which simplifies mounting in a plasterboard ceiling. Installation and conditions of use This is a class I fitting — the earth conductor must be connected. IP20 means dry rooms only: living room, bedroom, dining room, study. The manufacturer gives a 2-year warranty; the fitting is made in China.
