MARIA is a pendant lamp made from a single ribbon looped several times over itself, in matt brass. A white lit strip runs along the inner face of the ribbon — that is its light source. The whole thing hangs on three thin cables below a round canopy in the same brass. How big it is and how high it hangs The ribbon fills a circle 57 cm across, and the lamp measures 120 cm in height including the suspension, which is shortened during installation. Over a table it is usually hung so that the lower edge of the ribbon sits 70–80 cm above the top — the 57 cm across is worth comparing with the width of your own table. How much light it gives The light source is built in permanently and comes with the lamp — there is no bulb to buy, and none to replace. The manufacturer gives 3250 lm for the LED module itself and 1800 lm as the flux leaving the luminaire; the second figure is the one that reaches the room, and it is enough for the main lighting of an average room. The colour of the light is 3000 K, warm white — warmer than daylight, without the yellow cast of an old incandescent bulb. The whole fitting draws 29.5 W, of which 25 W goes to the LED module. Dimming without a dimmer The fitting carries Switchmo: the brightness changes from an ordinary wall switch, by flicking it several times. Three levels are available — 100%, 50% and 12% of full brightness. Neither a dimmer in the wall nor a remote is needed. Where to hang it The manufacturer intends MARIA for a living room, an office and a hallway, and its text points to the place above a dining or kitchen table.
