PAOLA 3540 chandelier – six lamps under three shades PAOLA 3540 is a six-light chandelier from the Spanish house Mantra, designed by José Ignacio Ballester. Three oval shades in cream fabric sit on curved, gold-painted arms, and each shade covers two lamps – so the fitting lights the space beneath it evenly, without the hard shadows a single central bulb throws across a table. Gilded metal, fabric and amber glass The frame is metal finished in a gold paint the maker calls pintura dorada. The arms fall into soft loops that gather into a slender stem below the ceiling rose. A glass teardrop in a warm amber tone hangs under each loop, catching the light from the lamps and glowing with them. The shades are sewn from a semi-translucent cream fabric that softens the output and directs most of it downwards. Lamps and control The fitting takes six E14 lamps of up to 20 W each, 120 W in total. Bulbs are not supplied, which leaves colour temperature and output to your own choice – the manufacturer allows lamps up to 45 mm in diameter and 95 mm long, so ordinary LED candles fit. The chandelier has no built-in dimmer; smooth dimming is obtained by pairing dimmable lamps with a dimmer in the circuit. Dimensions and installation The shades stand on a 77 cm circle, and the overall drop adjusts from 65 to 165 cm – the chain shortens by unhooking links, so the piece can hang low over a table or high in a room with generous headroom. The 12 cm ceiling rose fixes on two screws set 60 mm apart. Net weight is 2.7 kg. Supply and safety PAOLA 3540 runs on 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz and is built to protection class I, so it must be connected to a circuit with an earth conductor. Its IP20 rating restricts it to dry interiors. The 1 m supply cable is transparent. The manufacturer covers the fitting with a three-year warranty, and its certificate of conformity is numbered MANTR210202.00.
