The s.luce Orb Modular is a pendant lamp with three mouth-blown glass globes measuring 20, 30 and 40 cm across. The glass carries a copper gradient — mirrored copper at the top, fading to clear towards the bottom. The globes hang on white cables from a single round canopy 40 cm in diameter, each at a different height. How high it can hang Maximum drop is 500 cm, and the manufacturer expects the cables to be shortened during installation, so each globe is set on its own. Five metres is a range an ordinary pendant does not cover — which is why this fitting is meant for a stairwell or a room open to the floor above, where the ceiling sits beyond the reach of a normal drop. Over a table the cables are usually shortened so the bottom edge of the largest globe sits 70–80 cm above the top. The 40 cm canopy covers one mounting point in the ceiling, and the fitting weighs 8.35 kg — on a plasterboard ceiling the fixing has to reach the load-bearing structure behind it. What bulbs it takes Each globe holds an E27 lampholder, three light points in total. Bulbs are not included and the limit per holder is 40 W, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself. The glass is transparent, so the bulb stays visible through the shade and becomes part of the fitting's look. The lamp can be dimmed, but that needs dimmable bulbs and a dimmer — it carries no control gear of its own. Supply is 230 V, and protection class I means the connection has to include an earth conductor. Glass, metal and finish The shades are mouth-blown, so every piece differs slightly from the photograph — wall thickness and the spread of the copper coating do not repeat to the millimetre. The metal parts, the canopy and the cables are white, which separates the structure from the coloured glass.
