A profile that disappears into the wall CANTO is an external corner profile made for plasterboard and — unlike most profiles on the market — designed to be plastered in. It is neither screwed on top nor recessed into a finished ceiling: it goes in while the drywall is being built, then gets skimmed over together with the board. Once the wall is painted, all that remains visible is the glowing slot. The shape is triangular and meant for a protruding corner — the edge of a drywall build-up, a dropped ceiling, a partition or a niche. This is an architectural solution in the strict sense: the light emphasises the geometry of the room while its source stays out of sight. Black lacquer and 2.02 metres This version is black lacquered and 2.02 m long — not 2.00 m. The two centimetres of overlength are deliberate and useful: they let you cut the profile on site to the exact dimension of the structure without losing length. The catalogue number for this configuration is 10-1495-20. Colour does a different job here than on a surface-mounted profile. Since the extrusion vanishes under the filler, the black works mainly inside the slot — a dark interior swallows reflections, so with the light off the slot reads as a crisp dark line rather than a silver groove. What you still need to buy The profile is sold on its own. Building a working line of light also takes an LED strip, a cover, end caps and a driver. That is not a shortcoming but the norm in profile systems, where each element is chosen to suit the job. Covers for CANTO come in transparent, frozen, milky, milky frosted, opal and black, in PMMA and PC. The choice has a direct effect: a transparent cover passes the most light but shows individual diodes when the strip density is low; milky and opal blend them into an even line at the cost of a few per cent of output. The driver is mounted outside the profile — the triangular section leaves no room for it. On a plaster-in build-up this is worth planning early, along with service access to the driver, because once the wall is skimmed there is no route back to it. Ingress protection: IP20, but not only The manufacturer classes the profile itself as non-sealable, IP20 — dry interiors only. There is one exception worth knowing: with the sealing TERRA cover, Lumines states IP54 for this profile, which protects the LED strip against moisture ingress and permits installation in damp-exposed zones — a bathroom outside the direct splash zone, for instance. A few more system properties belong in the plan: CANTO profiles cannot be joined with connectors, so each line is designed from a single piece (available lengths are 1.0 m, 2.02 m and 3.0 m, with custom runs up to 6 m). The profile is not rated to be walked or driven over and must not be used in a floor. The manufacturer rates the glare index as basic, which hardly matters for accent light aimed along a wall — but for a line at eye level, a more strongly diffusing cover is worth the loss.
