A surface-mounting frame for a 60 × 60 cm LED panel from the Merisma range — an empty aluminium housing in matt white, without the panel and without a light source. What it is for A 60 × 60 cm panel normally drops into a suspended ceiling, through an opening of 58.5 × 58.5 cm. Where there is no suspended ceiling — on concrete, on plasterboard fixed flat, in a plant room — there is nothing for the panel to sit in. The frame gives it a housing screwed to the ceiling, so the same panel mounts on the surface instead. The frame itself does not light. The LED panel is bought separately and set into the frame; the manufacturer intends the arrangement for technical rooms and offices. Size and build The frame measures 60 × 60 cm in outline and stands 6.5 cm high — that is how far the finished assembly with a panel projects from the ceiling. Compare that figure with the room height and with whatever else runs under the soffit. The body is aluminium finished in white, matt rather than gloss, so it throws no point reflections on a pale ceiling. The shape is a plain rectangular box with straight, unprofiled sides.
