The Kyoto MOD178FL-L11B3K is a 145 cm floor lamp. A slender black stem rises from a cylindrical base of black marble, and two glossy white glass shades sit at the top, joined by a black metal ring. The LED source is built in permanently. How tall it is and where it stands At 145 cm the lamp reaches almost twice the height of a dining table top (75 cm), so the shade stays above the eye level of anyone seated and the light falls from above rather than straight into the face. The double shade measures 22 cm across and 21 cm high, and on the floor the lamp takes up barely more than the footprint of its marble base. It weighs 11.1 kg, most of it in the stone base: the lamp stands firmly and needs no extra weighting, but moving it is a two-handed job. The supply cable is 200 cm long, which sets the radius within which the lamp can stand from a socket. What kind of light it gives The 11 W LED module delivers 1300 lm at 3000 K — warm white, warmer than daylight and calmer than typical office lighting. That output is enough to light a reading corner properly rather than merely mark it out. The wide bowls spread the light over a 120° angle and the opal glass diffuses it further, so there is no sharp cone. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 means colours look natural, though without the accuracy a make-up mirror calls for. The manufacturer has not made the lamp dimmable — it is switched on and off by the inline switch on the cable. The light source cannot be replaced; it is integrated into the fitting. Materials The base is natural marble, so the veining differs from one piece to the next. The stem and the ring between the shades are matt black metal, and the shades themselves are thick glossy opal glass. An IP20 rating restricts the lamp to dry interiors. Where it fits The shade shape in the Kyoto series echoes the silhouette of a Japanese pagoda: two bowls tapering towards a metal waist. The manufacturer intends the lamp for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, as well as hotel and restaurant interiors.
