The Jens LED wall light by Elstead Lighting is a slim exterior fitting with softly rounded ends, just 13.5 cm wide, that emits through one narrow slot running along a single long edge. Instead of spilling light in every direction it throws one directional wash across the wall, drawing a clean graphic line on a facade after dark. Die-cast aluminium with a polycarbonate lens The housing is die-cast aluminium in a matt black finish, closed by a polycarbonate lens. Polycarbonate takes impact far better than glass and yellows more slowly than plain acrylic, which matters on a fitting that lives outdoors year round. Elstead backs it with a three-year anti-corrosion guarantee; together with the sealed 31 mm deep body, that is what makes it credible on walls taking direct rain and wind. Three colour temperatures on a switch A small switch on the side of the housing selects 3000 K, 4000 K or 5700 K. Warm 3000 K suits brick and timber elevations and seating areas, neutral 4000 K reads well at entrances and driveways, and cool 5700 K gives the most technical, high-contrast result on concrete or dark render. The choice is made once during installation: the fitting is not dimmable and has no remote control. How much light it delivers The integrated LED module draws 6 W and produces 680 lm, roughly 113 lumens per watt. That is close to the output of a traditional 60 W incandescent bulb at a tenth of the consumption. Colour rendering above Ra 80 keeps brickwork, timber and planting in their real colours rather than flattening them to grey. Where it belongs The compact body and IP65 sealing make Jens a genuinely versatile outdoor light: beside a front door, along a terrace, on a balcony, on fence posts or across a building elevation. Its low profile, only 31 mm off the wall, keeps it clear of narrow passages and external stairs. It looks best in runs, where several units at equal spacing build a rhythmic band of light along the wall. Wiring and installation The fitting runs directly on 220-240 V 50 Hz mains and is built to Class I, so it needs an earth connection and should be installed by a qualified electrician. The light source is integrated and non-replaceable: once the module reaches the end of its life the whole fitting is replaced. Each wall light ships in a 16 x 12.5 x 6 cm carton.
