ISLA is a single pendant in a classic, warm register: a bell-shaped shade of lightly tinted glass, open at the bottom, hung from a brass chain. Between the chain and the shade sits a turned brass collar with a clear glass element — and it is that detail, rather than the shade itself, that gives the fitting its character. The patinated brass finish is matt and subdued, so the luminaire does not gleam like new metal; it looks as though it has hung there for a while. Light The glass is clear and the shade is open at the bottom, so the bulb is visible and becomes part of the composition — a decorative warm-white LED filament suits it best. The light goes mainly downwards, in the cone the shade defines, and also glows sideways through the glass. An important detail: 15 W at the socket The socket is a standard E27, but the manufacturer caps the lamp at 15 W. That is far below the usual 60 W and in practice means only LED lamps will fit — a classic incandescent or halogen bulb of any useful brightness would exceed the limit. This is not a shortcoming: 15 W of LED gives brightness comparable to a 100 W incandescent. No lamp is supplied, and it is replaceable. Dimensions and mounting The shade measures 29 × 29 cm and the overall height including the chain is 80 cm. The fitting weighs 1.93 kg. It is built from brass-finished steel and glass.
