NEGRO WOOD WHITE/BLACK is a hanging lamp with a bell-shaped metal shade crowned by four splayed plywood slats in a white finish. The shade, the ceiling rose and the cable are black, and the inside of the shade is black as well. The plywood is the only pale element on the fitting. Size and where to hang it The shade measures 28 cm across and the whole fitting stands 120 cm high measured from the ceiling — that is the maximum drop, and it is the figure to compare against your own ceiling height. Over a table the lower edge of the shade usually sits 70–80 cm above the top. 28 cm is less than the 40 cm that keeps the proportion over a table 80–90 cm wide, so a single NEGRO WOOD works better over a smaller top, or in a row of several over a longer one. Which bulb it needs and how it lights The fitting has one light point with an E27 thread and takes bulbs of up to 60 W. No bulb is included, so colour temperature and brightness are yours to choose — around 800 lm matches the old 60 W bulb. The shade is opaque and open only at the bottom, and its interior is black. A black surface absorbs light instead of reflecting it, so the fitting throws a narrower, more sharply outlined pool of light than a shade with a white lining. The plywood crown does not cover the shade, but it does not let any light upwards either. Build The construction is metal and plywood. Keter Lighting states that production takes place in Poland and is carried out by hand, so the grain and the layered edges of the plywood fall slightly differently on every piece. The fitting is intended for indoor use.
