Golden Cage is a pendant built from five gold wire cages threaded one above the other on a flexible silicone tube holding the LED source. Each cage is 13.9 cm across, and the manufacturer makes the wire elements by hand. The fitting hangs on a thin cable from a cylindrical canopy 6 cm in diameter and 18 cm tall. How high it can hang The drop adjusts across a very wide range: from 76.8 cm to 375.8 cm measured from the ceiling. The low setting is the one for a kitchen island or a dining table, where the bottom of the fitting stops 70–80 cm above the worktop. The high setting — close to four metres — really only fits a stairwell or a room with a mezzanine. The cable is 300 cm long and the whole lamp weighs 2.3 kg, so no reinforced hook is needed. The 6 cm canopy covers a standard installation box. How much light it gives The fitting draws 17 W and gives 1050 lm. That is a little more than an old 60 W bulb, so Golden Cage lights a chosen spot rather than a whole room — as the only light in a living room it will be too weak. At 3000 K the light is warm white, and the 360° angle means it leaves the tube in every direction, so the wire cages throw a pattern of shadows onto the ceiling and walls. The colour rendering index is 80. The lamp cannot be dimmed — it works on and off only, so a wall dimmer has no use here. The source is integrated into the fitting and is not swapped like a bulb; the manufacturer rates it at 50 000 hours. Build and wiring Cages and canopy are gold-finished metal. Safety class I calls for a protective conductor — the box needs an earth. IP20 limits the lamp to dry interiors.
