A GU10 fitting rated to 35 W GFA041 is a recessed downlight for a single GU10 lamp, rated to 35 W. That figure matters when choosing a bulb: 35 W is the usual ceiling for GU10 halogen, and in practice it means any GU10 LED will fit — GU10 LEDs rarely exceed 8 W. It is worth taking advantage of. A 35 W halogen gives off substantial heat that has nowhere to go inside a ceiling void; a 5–7 W LED produces a comparable amount of light at several times lower operating temperature. In a suspended ceiling, where insulation or a cavity sits above the fitting, that is the difference between an installation you can forget about and one you have to watch. Aluminium, not plastic The body is aluminium. In a recessed fitting that material is chosen not for looks but for thermal conductivity: aluminium spreads the lamp's heat across the whole surface of the fitting and passes it to the surroundings, instead of concentrating it at one point the way plastic does. That translates directly into lamp life. An LED loses its lifespan mainly through overheating rather than through hours run — a fitting that can move heat away extends the life of every bulb put into it. The whole fitting weighs just 0.11 kg, so it puts no load on the ceiling board. Matt white that disappears into the ceiling The finish is matt white. Matt rather than gloss is not an aesthetic detail here: a matt surface does not reflect the light of the lamp inside and forms no bright ring around the fitting, so with the light on only the beam is visible, not the bezel. Against a white ceiling a fitting like this effectively vanishes. It suits interiors where lighting should be present but not seen — an office, a corridor, a dressing room, a living room with plasterboard build-ups. Class I and IP20 — what they mean at installation The fitting is protection class I. The metal housing has to be earthed, so the installation must carry a protective conductor — not an option but a condition of safe use. Installation belongs to an electrician. IP20 restricts the fitting to dry interiors. It is not suitable for bathroom zones exposed to splashing, nor outdoors — not even under a canopy. Supply is ordinary 230 V, with no transformer required. No lamp is included; when choosing one, remember that colour temperature, beam angle and dimmability come from the lamp, not from the fitting.
