The Zambelis 23108 is a pendant built from a single aluminium ribbon in matt gold, bent into an irregular wave 140 cm long. The light comes from a built-in LED strip hidden under a milky white acrylic diffuser that runs the whole length of the ribbon. The fitting hangs on two steel wires from a rectangular ceiling plate. How big it is and how it goes up The ribbon measures 140 cm long, 20 cm wide and 23 cm high — three figures worth comparing with the length of your own tabletop, because the fitting occupies a band of exactly that width. Above a 75 cm dining table the lower edge usually sits 70–80 cm above the top: the light then covers the whole surface and stays out of the eyes of anyone seated. The ceiling plate is 12 × 7 cm and 3 cm deep and mounts onto a finished ceiling — the manufacturer states plainly that no cut-out and no void above the ceiling are needed. The suspension wires are 200 cm long and are shortened to the drop you want. How much light it gives The manufacturer quotes 2233 lm at 27 W, roughly the output of just under three old 60 W bulbs — enough for the fitting to be the main light over a table rather than an accent. 3000 K is warm white, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 sits in the range normal for general lighting. The light source is built in and cannot be replaced. The manufacturer rates the life at L70B50 30,000 h, meaning that after that time half the modules still hold at least 70% of their original output. Dimming and wiring The fitting dims on TRIAC, but no dimmer is supplied — a separate TRIAC wall dimmer is required. An ordinary switch will not do it. It runs on 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz and the module draws 700 mA. It is a class I fitting, so an earth conductor is required at the ceiling point. Build The body is aluminium finished in matt gold — the surface throws no point highlight, so the ribbon reads as a solid volume rather than a mirror. The diffuser is white opal acrylic, through which the lit line stays visible along the whole curve.
