Black smooth and black grid membranes have a blend of cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate. Membrane provides a high degree of internal surface area for greater product adsorption. Higher dirt holding capacity. Biologically inert with good thermal stability. No surfactants to contaminate samples. The uniform microporous membrane structure enables high flow rates. Whatman mixed cellulose ester membranes are composed of cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. These membranes feature a smoother and more uniform surface than pure nitrocellulose filters.
