The KARPO 30 is a wall light with a round white canopy 9 cm across and a slim 3 cm head set on a hinge. The housing is aluminium, and a small switch sits on the edge of the canopy — the light is turned on at the fitting itself. The LED is built in permanently. How much wall it takes up The canopy covers a 9 cm circle and the fitting projects 7.5 cm from the wall face — a figure worth comparing with the passage beside a bed, or with the depth of the recess it is going into. With the head pointing down the light measures 12.5 cm. It weighs 0.314 kg, so an ordinary wall plug is enough to hold it. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use, between −20 and 40 °C. What light it gives and how to aim it The head puts out 470 lm in a 40° beam — not a light for the whole room, but a clearly bounded circle on the surface below it. Reading is one of the uses the manufacturer names for this lamp. The hinge tilts the head through 90° and turns it through 350°, so the pool of light moves onto a book or onto the wall without repositioning the whole fitting. At 3000 K the light is warm white, and a colour rendering index of 90 means colours look almost as they do in daylight. Wiring and use The LED driver is built into the fitting, so the light connects straight to a 220–240 V supply with no separate transformer. Safety class I does require a protective conductor, though — the box needs an earth. The switch on the housing turns the lamp on and off without reaching for a wall switch, which matters beside a bed.
