PALAIS is a small Quintiesse wall light shaped as a sphere split across the middle: the upper half is a solid dome in vintage brass, the lower one clear glass with deep horizontal ribs. The LED module is built in permanently, so the fitting lights up once connected and there is no bulb to buy. How big it is and where it belongs The sphere is 14.2 cm across and stands 9.5 cm off the wall — a fitting for places where rhythm matters more than the amount of light: a pair either side of a mirror, a run along a corridor, or a single point by a bed head. On a narrow hallway wall it stays clear of head and shoulder. The fitting is protection class I, so the installation needs an earth conductor. The compact body, with no arm and no adjustment, takes up exactly the wall space you can see. How much light PALAIS gives The LED module draws 7 W and gives 215 lm — decorative light that picks out the wall and marks a route, rather than lighting a whole room. 3000 K is warm white, close to evening light. The brass dome covers the source from above, so the light leaves downwards and forwards through the ribbed glass. The ribs break the beam into horizontal bands and lay a fine, distinctive pattern on the wall — with this fitting that is the point, not a side effect. Brightness is adjustable, and the diodes carry a stated life of 50,000 hours. What room it suits The manufacturer intends PALAIS for the living room, bedroom and dining room, and for the hallway, office and study — anywhere the fitting is seen close up and works as part of the wall. The form is modernist and minimalist: no ornament beyond the geometry of the sphere and the texture of the glass.
