The s.luce Velo is a pendant with a single smoked-glass shade 25 cm across and 27 cm high. The glass carries vertical fluting around its whole circumference and is closed at the bottom by a low stepped ring. Lampholder, shade mount and ceiling canopy are black, and the flex is textile-braided.Drop and where to hang itThe cable is 500 cm long, so hung at full length the fitting reaches 5 m down — this is the Galerie version, meant for spaces open to the floor above: stairwells, entrance halls and rooms with a gallery. Compare that drop with the real height of your own space rather than with a standard-ceilinged room.The canopy is 12 cm across and 2.5 cm high, so it covers an ordinary ceiling box. The fitting weighs 2 kg. At 25 cm the shade is small enough that a single piece suits a side table or a stairwell rather than a large dining table — over a longer top, several are hung side by side.The bulb is bought separatelyThe fitting takes one E27 lampholder and runs on 230 V, but no light source is included — that is a separate purchase, and with it the choice of colour temperature and brightness. s.luce states that the lamp dims only with a suitable bulb: a bulb described as dimmable plus a dimmer in the installation.Smoked glass passes less light than clear glass and gives it a warmer, subdued cast, and the filament is visible through the transparent shade — which is why this model is usually paired with a decorative bulb whose looks matter as much as its output.The glass and the other versionsVelo shades are mouth-blown, so the pattern of the fluting and the depth of the tint differ slightly from piece to piece.
