The Milford 20 is a pendant with an elongated shade of opal glass, closely fluted with vertical ribs and rounded at both ends. The shade measures 20 cm across and 33.5 cm high, the fitting at the top is white metal, and the luminaire hangs on a white textile-covered cable. How large it is and where to hang it At 20 cm across the shade is narrow: one pendant covers a small patch — a bedside table, the space beside an armchair, a narrow console. Over a dining table the Milford 20 is usually hung several in a row, because one will not cover a top 80–90 cm wide. The lower edge of the shade normally sits 70–80 cm above the tabletop, where the light reaches the table surface without shining into the eyes of the people seated at it. The 300 cm cable is shortened to the height you need, so the pendant also suits a stairwell or a high-ceilinged room. The manufacturer does not provide for hook suspension — the luminaire is wired to the ceiling outlet. It weighs 1.614 kg. Which bulb to buy The pendant has one E27 socket and takes a bulb of up to 40 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself — 2700–3000 K, warm light, is the usual choice for a living room or bedroom. The 40 W limit is the bulb's power draw: an LED giving around 800 lm, as much as the old 60 W incandescent, uses a few watts and stays well inside it. The opal glass is opaque and spreads light across the whole shade, so no filament or diodes show through and the pendant lights evenly to the sides too. Dimming is possible but needs a bulb marked as dimmable and a dimmer — it happens on their side, not in the luminaire itself. Mouth-blown glass The shade is mouth-blown and finished by hand. The manufacturer notes that air bubbles may appear in the glass and the wall thickness varies, so each piece differs slightly from the photograph and from the others in the series. Apart from the glass, the only other part is the metal fitting at the top, in the same white as the cable. The cable is not replaceable, which is worth allowing for when planning a long drop.
