The SONGMICS LUC49W is a square-section umbrella stand made of white powder-coated sheet metal. Its walls are cut with an openwork pattern of raindrops and an open umbrella, and hooks for folded umbrellas sit on the rim of the body. How much floor it takes The footprint measures 15.5 x 15.5 cm — a square to compare against the free strip of floor beside your front door, or the gap between a shoe cabinet and the door frame. The body stands 49 cm tall, and walking-stick umbrellas reach above its rim, so the clearance you need above the stand is set by the umbrella rather than by the housing. Empty, the stand weighs 2 kg. That is what you lift when you move it aside to vacuum or shift it to another spot in the hallway. What comes in the box The box holds three things: the stand itself, a removable plastic drip tray and four hooks. The tray sits on the bottom and collects the water running off wet umbrellas; it lifts out through the top, so emptying it does not mean tipping the whole body over. The hooks go over the rim of the wall and take folded short umbrellas, which would otherwise disappear at the very bottom of the interior. For the interior the manufacturer also names other items of similar shape: rolls of wrapping paper, walking sticks and crutches, and Nordic walking poles. Finish and contact with the floor The sheet metal carries a powder coating that the manufacturer names as corrosion protection — which matters on an object that, by design, has dripping umbrellas put into it.
