The Afrodisiac M is a pendant lampshade woven from natural rattan. Its slender, spindle-shaped body measures 30 cm across and 60 cm high, built from vertical rattan poles bound to horizontal rings at every intersection. Inside, a ring on a metal cross-bar is fitted to take a standard E27 lamp holder. What comes in the box and what you still need The manufacturer sells this model as a shade only. There is no cable, no ceiling rose, no lamp holder and no bulb in the box — the product sheet states plainly that the cable is not included and points to a standard E27 fitting. A suspension set with an E27 holder and a bulb therefore have to be bought before the shade can hang. Because you choose the light source yourself, the light colour depends entirely on the bulb: 2700–3000 K gives warm, slightly yellow light close to an old filament lamp, while roughly 800 lm matches the brightness of a traditional 60 W bulb. Size and hanging height The shade is 30 cm in diameter and 60 cm tall. Those 60 cm add to the drop, so the hanging height is set by the cable and the shade together, not by the cable alone. Over a table the lower edge usually sits 70–80 cm above the top. A 30 cm diameter is smaller than the 40 cm that keeps a shade in proportion over a table 80–90 cm wide — above a wider top, several shades hung side by side read better than one. The gaps between the poles do not hold the light in: the beam goes downwards, but the weave also throws a pattern onto the wall and ceiling, and the bulb stays visible through it. Rattan, making and care The weave is made by hand from natural rattan on an iron frame, in Indonesia. Every piece has a slightly different tone and weave pattern — that is how the material behaves, so two shades bought as a pair will not be identical. The manufacturer intends the shade for indoor use only: outdoor use, even under cover, is excluded from the warranty because of humidity. Care comes down to dusting the weave and the metal frame regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
